Isn’t being punished for doing a good thing unfair instead of absurd? (or at least absurd AND unfair?)
From some of the other myths I’ve read, Zeus did a lot of things that weren’t so admirable!
But you see, the state government requires me, to have no blinking lights, to have a license. So I actually have a license from another state so I don’t have to pay the 780 dollars to fix the damn thing.
That is absurd. Have you tried blacking out the light on your dashboard with a magic marker? If you could get it by the state then your absurdity would trump their absurdity!
New strips Monday, Wednesday and Friday!
Prometheus appears every Friday in Greece in "Athens Plus"--a weekly newspaper published by the International Herald Tribune & Kathimerini SA.
Who said suffering had to have a point?

Not me!

Since Prometheus is basically getting punished for doing a good thing for humanity, it makes his suffering absurd.
And it makes Zeus look like a tyrant who makes decisions on a whim.
Or, maybe, Zeus had a very good reason for chaining him to a rock for eternity? But I haven’t figured it out yet.

Absurdity, methinks, comes from life being unfair for no apparent reason.
Like, I have a blinking light on my car dashboard. It would cost me $780 dollars to fix it. One tiny orange blinking light, 780 dollars.
That’s when the absurdity of life hit me full in the face.
